Story

MediEvil

Amid the stormy gloom over the Pools of the Ancient Dead, Sir Dan will find the boatman waiting to escort eight lost valiants to their final resting place from the accursed swamps. As his boat is the only available means of passage into Mellowmede and the Crystal Caves, the Boatman brokers a deal with Sir Dan for the lost souls as fare.

MediEvil: Resurrection

Death's involvement in the story is greatly expanded upon in MediEvil: Resurrection. Death serves as the Narrator for the game's introduction and level forewords.

Dan first encounters him in the Return to the Graveyard where he is shown to be extremely frustrated with Zarok due to him raising the dead all over Gallowmere, making his job quite difficult. He agrees to help fight Zarok and informs Daniel about the locations of the Anubis Stone pieces. He is later encountered again in the Pools of the Ancient Dead, where Dan helps him relocate his missing boat and rebuild Mecha-Death, which was destroyed whilst attempting to clean up the battlefield. After Dan has collected 3 of the Anubis Stone pieces as well as the Dragon Plate Armour from Dragon Island, Death will ferry him to the Haunted Ruins.

He doesn't appear for the rest of the game after this point; he does narrate the game's ending, however.

Characteristics

Personality

He is weary and sardonic, yet retains an air of engaging charisma and elegant charm. If he ever had any real enthusiasm for his job, it's been long gone. However, he has two key redeeming features that shine through his aura of melancholy resignation: His comprehensive knowledge of Gallowmere, and a sneaking admiration (almost paternal regard) for the undead knight Sir Daniel Fortesque, whom he sees as his only hope of gaining some peace from massively increased workload.
