Welcome to the inaugural post of Gallowpedia's new blog, The Gallows Gazette! In this post, we hope to introduce you to the blog itself, the wiki's new look, and a browser extension for easier browsing of independent wikis such as Gallowpedia. Let's dig in!

The Gallows Gazette

A blog about MediEvil should have been created a long time ago. As kids, we would have loved to read more about Sir Dan's adventures, the making of the games, and all else that there is to learn about the series.

But, better late than never! After all, Zarok returned to our screens twenty one years following his first appearance (well, technically his second), and who's to say we won't see him again in a MediEvil 2 remake at some point. While we wait for his return, the opportunity to don our armours, ready to charge into battle against evil once again, let us share with you the latest from Gallowmere in The Gallows Gazette.

The Gallows Gazette is intended to be Gallowpedia's companion blog and the home for fan-driven content about MediEvil. It is a blog about the games and their community, for the commnity. We endeavour to bring you exclusive interviews, guides, community spotlights, and more.

A diagram explaining the names and positioning of The Gallows Gazette logo.

The visual part of the gazette's masthead (or the logo, if you will) parodies the masthead of The Times newspaper. The coat of arms at the centre has been adjusted to reflect Gallowmere through the use of the gallows, the Stained Glass Demon, the Witch Talisman, and the skull of Gallowmere. Zarok's Beast Transformation replaces the supporter on the right side, whilst the lion on the left remains to represent England, the birthplace of MediEvil. At the top sits King Peregrin's Crown. Of course, all good heraldic achievements need a Latin motto or two:

  • On the belt wrapped around the centre is "Surrexit iterum", meaning "(it) has risen again," based on the Information Gargoyle's famous speech.
  • The ribbon below the supporters says "Non omnis moriar," meaning "Not all of me will die," signifying how we live on through our deeds (or good PR).

A New Look for the MediEvil Wiki

A screenshot showing off Citizen, Gallowpedia's new theme and its customisation options.

Gallowpedia is built and maintained using a platform called MediaWiki. It allows contributors to independently collect and organize their knowledge. Its default theme is what you've been seeing until last week. It was beautiful, although it has served its purpose.

In 2025, the design needs of Gallowpedia pushed us to search for a new, modern theme. We chose to use Citizen, a sleek and modern theme with new (but similar) colors, a better user interface, more intuitive navigation, and overall, a better experience for you, the readers. In addition to all this, it is also customisable, allowing you to adjust the text size, width, and colour of the wiki to your liking.

Last, but not least, if you run into any issues with Gallowpedia, you can submit them on our issue tracker on GitHub.

Indie Wiki Buddy Now Supports Gallowpedia

As our final announcement, we are pleased to share that Gallowpedia has been added to version 3.13.2 of Indie Wiki Buddy, a browser extension that will redirect you from corporate-run, ad-dominated wikis, to independent alternatives. If you'd like a better reading experience when learning about your favourite topics, we can't recommend this extension enough! It works with more wikis than just Gallowpedia, so go download it and install it, it's possible that the wiki of your favorite game (other than MediEvil) is already supported!

One Small Step for Dan...
