The Demonette Statues blocked the path to the Demonettes in the Enchanted Earth. The Shadow Talisman was needed in order to deactivate them.

"Doing this will allow you to pass the demon statues that were blocking your path earlier."
MediEvil: The Official Strategy Guide

The statues shoot out red energy which blocks Sir Dan from moving past them. If he tries to do so anyway, he will take damage.

Behind the scenes

Development

MediEvil (1998 original)

The statues were originally not of the winged demons. Their entity name in EE.BIN, EEGoddesses, suggests they were going to be statues of deities. This form of the statues can be seen in the MediEvil ECTS Pre-Alpha, as well as an early game trailer.

MediEvil (2019 remake)

The statues in the remake.

The statues remain largely the same in the remake. However, their positioning and rotation have been adjusted. They also shoot out energy from their mouths instead of their eyes like in the original game.
