In folklore, mermaids were aquatic creatures with the head and upper body of a human woman and the tail of a fish.
History
It is uncertain whether mermaids existed or not. However, there was a fountain featuring the statue of a mermaid in the Scurvy Docks. Seagulls would often fly around and sit on the statue, releasing their droppings on it.[1]
