'''Zarok's spell book''' is an ancient [[books|book]] of [[Black Magic]]. Its most notable users were [[Zarok]] in 1386 and [[Lord Palethorn]] in 1886. Both sorcerers were thwarted by the reanimated knight [[Sir Daniel Fortesque]].

===14th century===

Some time after the death of Sir Daniel Fortesque in 1286, Zarok came into possession of this book of Black Magic.{{Bookref|MED2-Manual}} In 1386, using the spells within, Zarok plunged the land into eternal night, robbed the people of [[Gallows Town]] of their souls and free will and brought life to the dead and inanimate.

Sir Dan found the spell book lying on a lectern in [[The Entrance Hall]] during the final stretch of his journey. However, he left it undisturbed.

===19th century===

The spell book turned up again in 1878, when [[Lord Palethorn]] and [[Professor Hamilton Kift]] located some of its pages within an old tomb in the Hebrides. Palethorn used it 8 years later in 1886 to bring the dead back to life, but because he was missing some of the book's pages, he didn't possess full control over the undead.{{Siteref|MED2-EU-Site|uk/nonshocked/storyline/storyline3.htm|Storyline, page 3|date=20141108104441}} Sir Dan was awakened by the spell and managed to defeat Palethorn.
