The Rune Stones were created by the ancients.
The ancients are the creators of the Rune Stones. They did this by trapping the strong magical energy emenating from Gallowmere in them.[1] It is possible that they also erected The Mystic Maidens as the maidens have the Rune Symbols carved into them.
