The Land of the Dead, also known as the Undiscovered Country, is the final destination for the souls of the dead. The Boat Man is the one to ferry the souls there. The souls of dead heroes seem to be exempt from going to the Land of the Dead, instead inhabiting the Hall of Heroes.
