Story
According to the Book of Gallowmere entry on rats, smashing them is considered as a criminal act against Derok. Derok himself is fought in The Lake as part of lost soul Nautical Nachbaur's quest. Derok is presented as a boss battle, his health being 9,999 hitpoints, but it only takes one hit to actually kill him.
