In the end, Zarok decides to confront Dan himself and transforms into a [[Zarok's Beast Transformation|beast]]. Once defeated, Zarok accepts his death and casts a spell that causes his lair to collapse, hoping to bring Dan down with him. Zarok is crushed in the wreckage, his magic undone.
