The Any% Glitchless category for MediEvil (1998) is the most recently added category.

The scope of this category is to simply complete the game as fast as possible with any percentage of completion, without using any glitches or unintended ways to skip parts of the game and obstacles.

    Rules

    1. Any use of the in-game cheat menu or memory manipulation is prohibited.
    2. The timer starts upon pressing New Game in the main menu.
    3. The timer ends upon the final hit on Zarok.
    4. After killing Zarok, it must be possible for the credits to run. You do not have to play them in your submission on Speedrun.com, but it must be possible for them to roll.
    5. You cannot use any glitch, or go out-of-bounds.
    6. You cannot skip cutscene triggers (i.e. the Boulder Gargoyles trigger or the Boat Man trigger).
    7. You cannot skip obstacles in an unintended way (i.e. the bridge in Return to the Graveyard).
    8. You cannot skip key items necessary to complete levels (i.e. runes).
    9. You cannot use the Quit-out to skip level exits.

    Platform

You can choose whichever platform you prefer to perform your run. This is the only category in the leaderboard that does not differentiate runs by platform.

    Version

    See also: Versions of MediEvil

The leaderboard includes 3 subcategories, one for each version of the game:

    • NTSC-U
    • PAL
    • NTSC-J

    Common practices

For the Any% Glitchless category, some practices are omitted in the level walkthroughs, but it is assumed that the player knows about them and uses them as needed. They are listed below:

    • Unless differently specified, avoid the enemies by jumping, moving around, or hitting them out of the way.
    • Always skip cutscenes in between levels. When you start a new level, hold START to skip the cutscene immediately as it starts.
    • When there's a dialog, skip it as quickly as you can by pressing Triangle button.
    • From The Enchanted Earth level and beyond, you will always dash while running.
    • When using the club, use the Jump-Hit technique to save its durability. Press Circle button to jump and then press X button to hit. This technique is meant to avoid hitting the ground as well, spending an extra 1% durability.
    • The walkthroughs are the same for the emulator and console, unless differently specified.
