"We have failed the Master! We give our lives!"
― Boulder Gargoyles, MediEvil

The Boulder Gargoyles are a pair of enemies from MediEvil, its remake and MediEvil: Resurrection. They can be found in the Cemetery Hill level.

Book of Gallowmere entry

These guardian gargoyles aren't much for conversation. And don't ask to hear their singing voice - unless you're into rock and roll! Badum-tish!

Story

MediEvil / MediEvil: Resurrection

The Gargoyles are brought to life by Zarok at the beginning of the Cemetery Hill level. They hurl boulders from their mouths to bar Dan's progress up the hill.

When Daniel reaches them in the original MediEvil and its remake, they lament over having failed Zarok and sacrifice themselves by exploding.

In MediEvil: Resurrection, they simply stop hurling boulders once Daniel reaches the top of the hill.

Trivia

  • Gargoyles in MediEvil are one of the several enemies shown to be capable of speaking; the others are the Boiler Guards, the Dragon, the Ghost Ship Captain, the Pirate Crew in MediEvil, and the Pirate Officers in MediEvil: Resurrection.
  • In the original MediEvil, there is an unused quote for the Gargoyles that can be located under Speech number 125 after using cheats. It says: "We must double our efforts to protect the Master!"
