The Hilltop Mausoleum gate skip

The Hilltop Mausoleum Gate Skip is a glitch that can be used to prematurely open the gate in The Hilltop Mausoleum and skip a significant part of the level. It is only possible to do this in the original MediEvil.

How it works

1. Run towards the gate and open the chest containing the club.
2. Position yourself between the wall and the candlestick holder, facing towards the gate. To position yourself, walk backwards by holding , or you will walk away from the wall instead of getting closer to it.
3. By quickly pressing and then you will hit a specific spot in the gate's fence.
4. If done properly, Dan will slightly go off bounds, often visibly moving backwards mid-air.
5. Jump towards Up () to land very close to the fence. The gate will open.
6. Hugging the fence, run towards Down-Right ( + ) to move from the spot where you are standing. If you have difficulties, go back Up and try again.

The timing of the jump and club input is similar to that of the super daggers. If possible, collect the club after opening the gate so that you can refresh its usage.

Note: On step 1, you must open the chest, or the wisp will move Dan's focus towards the chest. When trying to hit the gate with the club Dan will aim at the chest instead.
