Wikipedia also has an article on
Giant space beacons, or satellites, were objects placed into orbit around a celestial body.
History
19th century
The Kensington museum in London had an exhibit about giant space beacons. People of the Victorian era believed that the beacons would orbit the earth, ushering in a new and glorious age of radio-phonic communication. They thought the beacons would beam information into small hats which would transport it directly into the wearer's brain.[1]
Gameplay
The satellites serve as platforms that Dan-hand can jump on to reach the Time Machine piece at the top of the earth.
