The Haunted Ruins is the eleventh level in the Any% speedrun of the original MediEvil. The goal of this level is to reach the exit. You will not collect any items, other than those necessary to complete the level.
This is the only level of the Any% route that requires two different loops to be completed. The reason is that until after you give King Peregrin's Crown to King Peregrin's ghost, the exit trigger does not exist, therefore the first loop cannot be used to reach the exit room.
Walkthrough
- Run forward to reach the edge, before the drawbridge. Do not dash, do not move in other directions. Just simply run forward. The camera will move Sir Dan and you will be in the perfect position to execute the first loop.
- Execute the first level loop.
- If you miss the half loop, you will land on a roof. Perform The Haunted Ruins' door clip to enter the demons' room. If you hit the half loop, you will already be in the demons' room.
- Traverse the room.
- Take a left and run forward, entering the doorway on the opposite side.
- Quickly collect the crown and leave. Be careful, a demon will jump you. Be ready to avoid it.
- Go back where you came from, past the room with the fountain, and outside.
- Run forward and enter King Peregrin's throne room on the left (Dan's right).
- Run forward and jump over the trapdoor.
- Give the crown to the king.
- After a short dialogue, you will be teleported into the Stone Golems arena.
- Perform the second level loop to reach the exit area.
- Using the daggers or dashing into the lever, activate the catapult. Do not waste your Club on this.
- After the first stone ball is thrown, jump on the catapult to reach the exit and leave the level.
