The Gallows Gauntlet is the tenth level in the Any% category of the original MediEvil. The goal of this level is to reach the exit. You will not collect any items other than those necessary to complete the level.

In this level, it is mandatory to skip the Dragon Gate in any way you prefer. There are multiple known methods. Three of them skip the gate, while one of them ignores it entirely and smuggles a Rune Stone from another level. The latter is simpler and far more consistent, but slower.

The first part of the walkthrough will be the same for all methods, once you enter the level. The smuggling requires you to go to Dan's Crypt first.

Walkthrough

1. Run forward, until you reach a three-way split.

Note: You will pass by a Fountain of Rejuvenation. Use it if you need to heal. Ignore the enemies, they will not damage you while you're in the fountain.

Tip: You will come across statues of dragons. One of them is in the way, its snout cutting your way. You can walk right over the snout, it does not have any collisions.

Dragon Gate Skip (DGS)

1. Take the front path, through the archway.
2. Reach the Dragon Gate, and perform the Dragon Gate Skip (DGS).
3. Run forward, keeping to your right in the square area. If you get too close to the center you will release the Serpent of Gallowmere.
4. Step on the far Top-Right weighted platform to open the Star Rune's gate.
5. Leave the area, completing the full DGS.
6. Run back from where you came, past the dragon statue with no collisions.
7. Collect the Star Rune.
8. Run back again, to the three-way split area. Take a right this time.
9. Follow the path to reach the Star Rune gate. Open it using the rune.
10. Reach the exit and leave the level.

Gallows Gauntlet Skip (GGS)

1. Take the front path, through the archway.
2. Reach the Dragon Gate, and perform the Gallows Gauntlet Skip (GGS).
3. You will land in the exit area. Reach the exit to leave the level.

Rune Smuggling

1. Before starting the level, from the land map, move to the Dan's Crypt level.
2. Perform the smuggling glitch and collect the Star Rune from Dan's Crypt.
3. Reload the save and, from the land map, start The Gallows Gauntlet.
4. Follow the steps from the shared walkthrough above.
5. At the three-way split area, take a right.
6. Reach the Star Rune gate and use the rune to open it.
7. Reach the exit to leave the level.
