Dankenstein was the name given to Sir Daniel Fortesque whilst he was possessing a monstrous body with his head.
History
Upon learning Lord Palethorn's plan to kill them using the robotic Iron Slugger, Princess Kiya and Professor Hamilton Kift got to work on making a monster that could fight back. When Dan arrived at the Professor's Lab, he was immediately told to collect the limbs needed for the monster. Unfortunately, the Professor managed to destroy the monster's head. Fortunately, he came up with the idea of having Dan put his head on the monster instead.
In the end, Dankenstein and the Iron Slugger duked it out in a boxing match, with Dankenstein coming out on top.
Gameplay
Dankenstein is first assembled in the level of the same name. Dan needs to kill the Limb Creatures in order to collect all of the limbs: The Bum, Left Arm, Left Leg, Right Arm, Right Leg, and the Torso.
Dankenstein is then played in Iron Slugger.

Behind the scenes
Development
Dankenstein is named after and inspired by the Gothic horror novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, in which a scientist brings a monster to life. Concept art of Dankenstein shows that he was going to have a more greenish skin and two big bolts jutting out of his lats. These were likely intended to pay homage to the 1931 film adaptation of the book, which had bolts sticking out of the monster's neck, and although the film was black and white, the monster was often featured with green skin in print advertising. These elements from the film were copyrighted by Universal at the time of the game's development, which is the most probable reason for their removal from the in-game version.[1]
