The soul, in many mythological, religious, philosophical, and psychological traditions, is the incorporeal and, in many conceptions, immortal essence of a person, living thing, or object.

    Gameplay

In the MediEvil games, there are five types of soul states which can be divided into three categories:

    Evil souls

The souls of Dan's vanquished enemies fill the Chalice. These souls are known as evil souls. There are three types of evil souls: minor evil, medium evil and major evil.

    Good souls

There are also characters with good souls. Killing such characters drains the Chalice of its power.

Good souls in MediEvil and MediEvil: Resurrection

    Good souls in MediEvil 2

    No soul

Some enemies Sir Dan encounters have no soul. Killing them neither fills nor drains the Chalice.
