The Quit-out glitch can be used to end a level prematurely, without returning to the Title Level.

How it works

Normally, when you select Quit from the Pause Menu, you will quit and return to the Title Level, basically restarting the game and ending your run. There are some exceptions where you instead speed up the level completion, and quitting takes you to the Land Map, as if you didn't actually quit.

The levels where this is currently known to be possible are The Hilltop Mausoleum, The Haunted Ruins, and The Time Device. It likely can be used in any level, although there's no utility for it for now.

The steps to perform it are the following:

1. Open the Pause menu with the START button.
2. Quickly select Quit and confirm the selection.

The timing of when it is safe to quit without restarting is relatively precise, it can be done at any point after a certain time in each level, so do not worry about missing the very precise moment, but it is different in all of them.

The Hilltop Mausoleum

Difficulty: Medium

1. Right after collecting the Skull Key, it will float on screen in front of you.
2. As it starts floating away, towards the Bottom-Right side, it is safe to Quit-out.

The Haunted Ruins

Difficulty: Easy

1. At the end of the level, step on the catapult.
2. A cut-scene will start. It is safe to Quit-out as soon as the cut-scene starts.

The Time Device

Difficulty: Hard

This one is a bit more difficult to perform as there are no clear clues like in the previous two. You have two options:

1. Count from the moment you start the Level looping. It takes about 21 seconds for it to be safe.
2. Pay attention to the music.

Both cases are dependent on exactly when you start the level loop and how precise and consistent you are. Unless you are an expert runner, it is safer to avoid using the Quit-out on this level.
