    Gallowmere gold coin.

Treasure (also known as Gold Pieces or Gold Coins) was used to buy ammunition, services or second-hand goods from Merchant Gargoyles in the 14th century or the Spiv in the 19th century. Sir Dan could find it scattered across various locations in Gallowmere and London, sometimes hidden in secret areas or given from one of the Heroes of the Hall.

    Gameplay

There are two kinds of treasure in the games:

Money can also be earned by killing rats and Severed Hands. Each kill earns Dan 1 to 2G. However, Severed Hands cannot be killed in MediEvil 2, due to the Dan-hand ability.

    Behind the scenes

    Development

    MediEvil (1998 original)

The maximum amount of gold Dan can have is 32,767G. This is because the value is stored as a signed short, and 32,767 is the highest positive value of a signed short. If Dan collects even a single coin more, the value will turn negative. As a consequence, it will no longer be displayed in the heads-up display, and Dan won't be able to use it to buy anything from Merchant Gargoyles. However, it is possible to fix this by collecting enough gold to loop back around to positive values again.[1]

    MediEvil (1999 Japanese original)

The maximum amount of gold Dan can have in this version is 30,000G.[2] Any coins collected beyond the maximum will be discarded.
