Treasure
Treasure (also known as Gold Pieces or Gold Coins) was used to buy ammunition, services or second-hand goods from Merchant Gargoyles in the 14th century or the Spiv in the 19th century. Sir Dan found it scattered across various locations in Gallowmere and London, sometimes hidden in secret areas or given from one of the Heroes of the Hall.

Gameplay
Overview
There are two kinds of treasure in the MediEvil games:
MediEvil (1998 original)
In addition to treasure, money can also be earned by killing rats and Severed Hands. Each kill earns Dan 2G.[a]
Limit bug
The maximum amount of gold Dan can have is 32,767G. This is because the value is stored as a signed short, and 32,767 is the highest positive value of a signed short. If Dan collects even a single coin more, the value will turn negative. As a consequence, it will no longer be displayed in the heads-up display, and Dan won't be able to use it to buy anything from Merchant Gargoyles. However, it is possible to fix this by collecting enough gold to loop back around to positive values again.[1] This bug was fixed in the Japanese version of the game.[2]
MediEvil (1999 Japanese original)
Limit fix
The maximum amount of gold Dan can have in this version is 30,000G.[2] Any coins collected beyond the maximum will be discarded.
MediEvil 2
Other than from collecting treasure, money can also be earned by killing rats. Each kill earns Dan 1G. Severed Hands cannot be killed in this game due to the Dan-hand ability.
Limit
The maximum amount of gold Dan can have is 9,999G.[3]
MediEvil: Resurrection
Unlike in previous games, killing rats and Severed Hands does not award any gold.
Limit
The maximum amount of gold Dan can have is 30,000GC. Any gold collected in excess of that will be discarded.[1]
MediEvil (2019 remake)
In addition to treasure, money can also be earned by killing rats and Severed Hands. Each kill earns Dan 1G. The amount of gold Dan obtains from all sources can be increased by 10% simply by wearing the Super Armour.[4] However, wearing the armour will also increase prices at the Merchant Gargoyles by 10%. It is therefore advised that Dan takes off the armour before shopping.
Notes
- ↑ This may be a bug, as they are each set to award only 1G in the code. One coin gets added to the gold value immediately on kill while another flies into the heads-up display (HUD) from the dead remains as intended. This is further supported by the fact that they only award 1G in the 2019 remake.
