"You wouldn't believe what my Agnes found when she was cleanin' Fortesque's bed chamber the other week..."
    Agnes' partner spreading gossip.

Agnes was a chambermaid[a] at Peregrin Castle. She was in a relationship with one of the castle guards.[b] While cleaning Captain Fortesque's bed chamber, Agnes found something which she told her partner about, who in turn told one of his fellow guards.[1][1.1]

    Behind the scenes

    Name

Agnes is a feminine given name derived from the Greek Ἁγνή Hagnḗ, meaning 'pure' or 'holy'.

    Notes

    1. Although this is not explicitly confirmed in the comic, the duty of cleaning someone's bed chamber would likely be carried out by a chambermaid.
    2. It is assumed in this article that there is a matrimonial or romantic relationship between the guard and Agnes. However, other interpretations are possible, such as Agnes being the guard's daughter or even his female House Imp.
