Dr. Loud (fl. 1886) was a general practicioner based in Whitechapel.[1][1.1] On April 20, 1886, he was called upon by Police-Constable Haylock to examine the body of a dead woman found on Cudworth Street who would later be identified as Mary Swinton. He would examine her body a second time at the mortuary. However, he could not carry out a post-mortem until he received permission from the Coroner.[1.1]

Name
Loud is an English and Scottish surname. It has several possible origins, such as being derived from the adjective loud, or derived from the place name Lyde. It may be a spelling variant of Louth in Lincolnshire, itself related to the aforementioned adjective. Finally, it can be a variant of the Irish surnames McLeod and McLouth.
