The Pause Menu will pause gameplay, allowing players to take a break.

MediEvil (1998 original)

Press the START button in-game to open the Pause Menu. Use the UP/DOWN directional buttons to highlight an option and use the button to select it. See individual options for more detail:

RESUME	Select this to exit the Pause Menu and continue your game.
QUIT	Select this to exit the game and return to the Main Menu.

GAME SETTINGS

AUDIO MODE	Press the button to toggle between STEREO / MONO.
FX VOLUME	Use the LEFT/RIGHT directional buttons to adjust sound effect volume.
SPEECH VOLUME	Use the LEFT/RIGHT directional buttons to adjust the volume level for character speech.
MUSIC VOLUME	Use the LEFT/RIGHT directional buttons to adjust game music volume.
LIGHTING	Use the LEFT/RIGHT directional buttons to adjust the brightness of the game display.
SCREEN ADJUST	Use the directional buttons to move the screen into the position you want. Press the button to return to the Main Menu once you have achieved the desired position.

CONTROL OPTIONS

VIEW CONTROLS	View the button presses for the currently active button layout. Use the UP/DOWN directional buttons to scroll this information and the button to return to the Main Menu.
BUTTON LAYOUT	Choose from 3 different button configurations
VIBRATION	Press the button to toggle the vibration for your Analog Controller (DUAL SHOCK) ON or OFF

MediEvil 2

Press ▲ / ▼ to highlight an option, then press the button to select:

RESUME:	Quit the pause menu and return to your current game.
EXIT LEVEL:	Quit the current level and return to The Professor's Laboratory.
QUIT:	Quit your current game and return to the main menu.
GAME SETTINGS:	Configure your game with a choice of options.
AUDIO MODE:	Press the button to toggle between STEREO and MONO
FX VOLUME:	Move the slider ◄/► to decrease/increase the sound effects volume
SPEECH VOLUME:	Move the slider ◄/► to decrease/increase the speech volume
MUSIC VOLUME:	Move the slider ◄/► to decrease/increase the music volume
SCREEN ADJUST:	Use the directional buttons/left stick to adjust your screen. Press the button to return to the GAME SETTINGS menu.
CONTROL OPTIONS:	Configure your Controller with a choice of options.
VIEW CONTROLS:	Press the button to view default controls. Press ▲ / ▼ to scroll through the menu.
BUTTON LAYOUT:	Press ◄/► to select from one of three preset button layouts. Check each button layout in the VIEW CONTROLS option.
VIBRATION:	Press the button to toggle the vibration function of your Analog Controller (DUALSHOCK) ON or OFF.

MediEvil: Resurrection

Press the START button to pause the game. On the Pause Menu, press ▲ or ▼ to select one of the following options and press button to confirm:

Continue	Return to the game
Save Game	Save progress to Memory Stick Duo™
Load Game	Load previously saved progress from the Memory Stick Duo™
Restart Level	Start the current level from the beginning
Sound Settings	Increase or decrease the Sound FX volume, Speech volume or Music volume, toggle subtitles ON or OFF and alter the subtitle language. Press the to accept your changes or the button to reset defaults
Control Options	Toggle the 'Invert Axis' function, used in target games, ON or OFF and select one of four different control configurations, labelled A to D
Quit	To quit the game and return to the Main Menu, select 'YES' when prompted
