Lions were large cats of the genus Panthera, native to Africa and India. They had muscular, broad-chested bodies; short, rounded heads; round ears; and dark, hairy tufts at the tips of their tails. They were sexually dimorphic; adult male lions were larger than females and had a prominent mane.
History

The museum in Kensington had two lion statues outside the main entrance and two statues inside the entrance hall.[1]
