Inventory glitch
Dragon Gate Skip
Dragon Gate Skip
The Dragon Gate Skip, or DGS, is one of the hardest glitches to perform in the original MediEvil. It is used to skip the Dragon Gate in The Gallows Gauntlet, and indirectly also other levels necessary to collect the Dragon Armour.

When a player presses SELECT, the inventory will open. This is used to select weapons and items. SELECT then closes the inventory again. If you open the inventory and then close it quickly (double tap), there is a brief window in which the player can input commands to allow you to move, jump, attack etc. When the inventory is open, Dan is invulnerable. This glitch is useful with regards to level looping, jacoghosting, soldiers despawning, and skipping Kardok.
Hilltop Mausoleum gate skip
Hilltop Mausoleum Gate Skip
This glitch can be used to prematurely open the gate in The Hilltop Mausoleum and skip a significant part of the level.

Level looping
Inventory glitch
Inventory glitch
This glitch is the starting point for other glitches such as level looping, jacoghosting, soldiers despawning, and skipping Kardok.

Using the inventory glitch, it is possible to get out of bounds and essentially "fall" to a different location in the level. If you stand on an edge and use the inventory glitch, you are able to jump off the edge and out of bounds, into the darkness. As the inventory is open, you are able to skip the death triggers, which would kill you in normal play.
Jacoghosting
Jacoghosting
This glitch can be performed in the Pools Of The Ancient Dead level in the original MediEvil. It is mainly used to skip the majority of the level.

If you close the inventory while you are falling, you will die instantly and be put back at the spot from which you jumped; however, if you hold C and then close the inventory, you will not die. In fact, you will be teleported to the top of the level, where you will be able to use the directional buttons to move about whilst falling.
Kardok skip
Kardok skip
This glitch can be performed to desync Kardok's shield with his model, allowing him to take damage and even die much earlier than intended.

The initial fall until the teleportation at the top of the level lasts 13 seconds. From there, to reach a floor again takes another 13 seconds, completing a full level loop in 26 seconds.
Level looping
Level looping
This is the basis for reaching the exit trigger. There are multiple uses of level looping in the game. Some are used to skip to the exit of the level. Others are used to skip an enemy encounter which is needed to progress.

Level looping is possible in any level where you can drop out of bounds. The levels where looping is normally used in speedrunning are the following:
*The Enchanted Earth
*Pools Of The Ancient Dead
*The Lake
*The Crystal Caves
*The Haunted Ruins
*The Ghost Ship
*The Time Device

Failing some level loops can result into Dan being stuck out of bounds, requiring the player to reset the level. Such loops are the one in Enchanted Earth, Haunted Ruins, and Ghost Ship.

Half loop
There's a version of the regular level looping which can be performed in half the time, 13 seconds instead of the usual 26 seconds. Performing it requires the exact same steps, the main difference is that Dan will reach the floor immediately after the initial fall instead of being teleported at the top of the level. Half loops are more difficult to perform than regular loops due to the high movement precision necessary to reach specific coordinates where the half loop happens.

Known half loops are in the following levels:
*The Enchanted Earth
*The Crystal Caves
*The Haunted Ruins

Void launch
Knockback dash
The club's power-up attack (pressing S) can be used on walls and certain objects to push Dan back. That, in conjunction with turning, the Daring Dash, and running, can increase Dan's speed much higher than normal. This glitch is also known and referred to as KBD.

Super daggers
This glitch is widely used by speedrunners. There are multiple uses of level looping in the game. Some are used to skip to the exit of a level. Others are used to skip an enemy encounter or an area of a level which should be completed to progress.
The Throwing Daggers's regular attack (pressing X) can be used in conjunction with the charged attack (holding S) to inflict more damage than normal. Every hit deals 15 points of damage. The only practical usage of this glitch is in the Stained Glass Demon fight at the end of the Hilltop Mausoleum level. Performing the glitch requires precise timing, therefore it is considered a more advanced technique by speedrunners, and not recommended for beginners. You can watch a video of this glitch being performed by Lalleruga on YouTube.

Super club
Quit-out
Similarly to the super daggers, the club's power-up attack (pressing S) can be used in conjunction with the regular attack (pressing X) to inflict more damage than normal. This glitch is commonly used on bosses in the game. It is difficult to perform due to the precise timing required. For this reason, it is considered a more advanced technique by speedrunners, and it is not recommended for beginners, who can use the much simpler jump-attack method instead. You can watch a video of this glitch being performed by Lalleruga on YouTube.

Jacoghosting
This glitch can be performed in the Pools Of The Ancient Dead level in (1998). After collecting the first lost soul, run back to the boat man and stand by the edge of the platform. Perform the inventory glitch to drop into the water between the platform and the boat. Dan will die, but as you see the red skull flame that appears upon his death, use the lost soul in your inventory. This will give the item to the boat man, putting Dan in a half-dead state, where his life is set to 0, his body is in the floating status, but you have control of it and can reach the exit of the level, effectively skipping most of it. You will start the next level with 0 life.

While Jacoghosting, you can collect items, but you will not take damage from enemies. If you stop moving while Jacoghosting, the glitch will fail.
This glitch is used to quit a level and end it prematurely, without resetting the game.

Speedrunners and glitch hunters are still experimenting to find more uses for this glitch in other levels.
Return to the Graveyard gate skip
Return to the Graveyard gate skip
This glitch can be used to avoid opening the catacombs gate in Return to the Graveyard and clip through it instead.

Smuggling
Smuggling
Smuggling can be performed in any level in (1998) and (2019) and it consists into collecting items, such as Rune Stones, in one level to use them in another. Normally, key items are not meant to be used outside the level in which they are collected.

To perform the smuggling glitch in MediEvil (1998), starting from the map screen, you open the Save menu while quickly also starting the level. When performed properly, you will be able to confirm your intent to save as the screen fades to black to start the level. Upon the start of the level, you will get the rest of the save screens. Switching between menu items allows you to move Dan briefly. Continuously doing this allows you to move around the level and collecting items. When you collect the item that you want to smuggle, complete the save and quit the level to return to the main menu and reload the save you just created. You will be on the map screen again and you can now start another level with the item you collected before saving in your inventory.
Soldier despawn
Soldier despawn
This glitch is possible only using the emulator ePSXe version 2.0.0 and it is used to get a significant advantage during the Fazguls' fight in Zarok's Lair.

This glitch is normally used in speedruns to smuggle the star rune from Dan's Crypt and use it to open the exit gate in The Gallows Gauntlet, allowing you to skip the dragon gate. You can watch this glitch being performed by NoobKillerRoof on MediEvil (1998) and by crash41596 on MediEvil (2019) on YouTube.

Soldiers despawn
Super weapons
This glitch involves several steps, and it can be performed on (1998) while using the emulator ePSXe 2.0.0. In Zarok's Lair, after entering the main circular room, approach the central area, and perform the inventory glitch. While closing the inventory and reopening it, move forward to step on the circular platform. If done properly, the Fazguls will not come out of the doors in the cutscene. After Zarok's speech, you need to close the inventory when the camera switches back to Dan. You can now continue the fight as usual, but only half the fazguls will spawn in the room, giving you a big advantage and not requiring to heal your soldiers at all.
Super weapons
The super weapons glitch can be performed with the club and the throwing daggers to deal more damage faster than they are intended to.

During the fight, you have to stay within the lower half of the room. Moving in the top half will cause the rest of the soldiers to spawn while the battle is still ongoing.
The Haunted Ruins door clip
The Haunted Ruins door clip
This glitch allows you to clip through a door from the opposite side, allowing you to skip a small portion of the level.

As soon as the last fazgul dies, you must run into the top half and spawn the rest of the fazguls. Instead of fighting, they still start cheering with your soldiers, and you will have completed the glitch.
Void launch
Although it is possible to perform most of this glitch on console or other emulators, when trying to complete it by spawning the rest of the soldiers, the game will crash unless using ePSXe 2.0.0. The reason why this happens is unknown, but it is speculated that it is caused by differences in how the memory is managed by the platform used.

Trivia
* One of the main reasons for the emulator of choice for speedrunning MediEvil (1998) to be ePSXe 2.0.0, is because the soliders despawn glitch can only performed on this emulator, on this specific version.

Weapon replenishment

It is possible to perform a glitch after your weapon is stolen that involves tricking the game into maxing out its percentage or ammo count by causing it to underflow.

To do this, you must open your inventory on the same frame that the weapon is registered as stolen. If done correctly, the item will be present but will have no percentage or ammo count. Selecting the item and killing the imp that stole it will maximize its percentage or ammo count.
