Development

According to Steven Tattersall, one of the game's main programmers, the statues in the background of this level have digitised images of programmer Alan McCarthy's abdomen.[2]

Version specific differences

In the 2025 re-release of the game, The Count's kneepads were removed from the level's loading screen. This is likely because of their resemblance to the skull of Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
