The Graveyard is the second level in the Any% speedrun of the original MediEvil. The goal of this level is to collect the Life Bottle and reach the exit. You will not collect any other items, except those needed to complete the level, such as Rune Stones.
Walkthrough
Tip: At the very start of this level, while you still do not have control of Dan, you can quickly press repeatedly to equip Dan's Arm. The timing is very precise and equipping it like this or later when you gain control of Dan makes no difference for the run. Make sure you have a weapon equipped as soon as you gain control of Dan.

- Run forward ignoring the zombie that will spawn from the ground.
- Avoid the two zombies standing in the curve, hugging the left fence.
- Right after the curve, hug the right fence, running towards the Earth Rune. Grab it.
- Run towards the gate on the left and use the Earth Rune to open it.
- Move past the gate, entering the new area. Sometimes, Dan can get stuck in the rune hand. You can jump while moving to the left to avoid that.
- Avoiding the zombies, grab the Chaos Rune in the middle of this area.
- Run back past the gate you previously opened, towards the wooden gate.
- Use the Chaos Rune to open it. As you use the rune, you can jump and move left to avoid getting stuck in the hand, although it is not always necessary.
- Run forward towards the angel statue.
- Reach the statue and hit it 3 times to turn it to face the left path. You can try and reach this area with Dan already standing on the left side of the statue, ready to run towards the left path. You can also turn your camera while doing this.
- As you hit the statue for the 3rd time and see it turning, run down the left path towards the gate.
- Go past the gate and turn right. There will be tombstones in your way; you can jump over or move around them.
Picture 1: Notice the seam between the two ground textures. Drop from the left side of the seam.
- Grab the Life Bottle and drop down. Pay attention to the ground and try dropping on the left side of the textures' seam (refer to Picture 1). If you try dropping from the right side, Dan will stumble, interrupting your run for a second.
Note: The life bottle collected in this level is normally the second and last bottle you will collect in the Any% route. If you need more, you can collect a 3rd one in the Pools Of The Ancient Dead and a 4th one in Dan's Crypt.

- Run forward, towards the narrow passage.
- Make a left after the passage and run forward, hugging the left wall. The camera will move Dan for you so you can simply run forward without turning using your directional buttons.
- Run into the water and on top of the small island, then drop down and towards the wooden bridge.
Tip: During step 16, you can use the chest on the island to gain a speed boost. This chest would contain the copper shield. Hit it with your weapon while you're passing by and jump towards Top-Right to gain a speed boost. Feel free to ignore this if you're struggling with it, it only saves 1 second.
|
- There's a short unavoidable cutscene here to remind you about collecting the Chalice of Souls. Watch it and be ready to run.
- When the cutscene ends, run towards the exit and leave the level.
Trivia
- Speedrunners and glitch hunters explored if it's possible to go past the large door opened with the Skull Key from this level, effectively skipping the Cemetery Hill and Hilltop Mausoleum levels. In this level, the door is purely decorative and nothing exists past it, contrary to the Return to the Graveyard level where the level continues past the door.
