The Mud Slide is a level that was cut from MediEvil.[1] The level would have been preceeded by The Muddy Riverbank and followed by The Asylum Grounds.[1] According to the game's producer Chris Sorrell, it was a long down-hill 'surfing' level with Dan on his shield.[2]
The level appears in the MediEvil ECTS Pre-Alpha, although it can only be accessed via hacking. Surfing Dan has not yet been implemented, but his model and animations can be found in the level's WAD. The level map forks in several places, but all paths eventually lead to the same exit. There are no enemies to fight or items to collect in this early incarnation of the level. However, the level's VLO suggests Armoured Knights would have appeared in the level.
The level was mentioned in a preview of the game for PlayStation Plus magazine released on June 25, 1997. It was described as being similar to the hog ride levels from Crash Bandicoot, along with The Silver Wood level.
