Frogs were members of a diverse and largely carnivorous group of short-bodied, tailless amphibians. Warty frog species tended to be called toads, but the distinction between frogs and toads was informal, not from taxonomy or evolutionary history.
History
13th century
The famine in Gallowmere was partially the result of diseased toads attacking Gallowmere's food stores. This was likely the doing of Zarok the Sorcerer who wished to oust the incompetent Mazok the Muddled in order to take over his position at court.[1]
Zarok would later use a toad again in order to spook the horse of the King's Champion, resulting in the Champion's untimely death. This allowed Zarok to install Captain Fortesque as the king's new Champion.[1]
As the Jabberwocky attacked villagers near the castle in 1286, it spooked several nearby animals, including a frog.[1]
