Bison, colloquially referred to as buffaloes, are large bovine in the genus Bison within the tribe Bovini.
History
14th century
It is alleged that when Sir Daniel Fortesque recounted his final battle against the evil wizard Zarok in his private journal, he remarked how he wished the sorcerer would turn into a buffalo rather than into a snake, as the hero was deathly afraid of snakes. However, the sorcerer did indeed turn into a snake, much to Fortesque's chagrin.[1]
