Oaks were hardwood trees or shrubs. They had spirally arranged leaves, often with lobed edges, and a nut called an acorn, borne within a cup.
History
14th century
In an alleged communication between the Pumpkin Witch and the Forest Witch found in Cemetery Hill, the Pumpkin Witch told her sister that she can move to the Enchanted Forest and "commune with her oaks."[1]
