Flies were insects of the order Diptera. Insects of this order used only a single pair of wings to fly, the hindwings having evolved into advanced mechanosensory organs known as halteres, which acted as high-speed sensors of rotational movement and allowed dipterans to perform advanced aerobatics.

History

A fly was flying over a cart of pumpkins that Sir Daniel Fortesque happened to fall into. The fly was spooked when the undead hero got up.[1]
