MediEvil Prototype (June '97) is a version of MediEvil that is approximately 56 days older than the MediEvil Rolling Demo and 456 days older than the final version of the game. It was shown off at the third E3 show in Atlanta, Georgia.[1][2] It was estimated that the game was 50% complete at this stage.

    Features

    Limited Run

In this version of the game, it was not possible for Dan to run indefinitely. Dan would run out of stamina which could only be recovered by not running. This was represented by a meter located at the bottom of the screen. Whenever Dan would run, a bar would slowly advance from Dan's happy face on the left end of the meter towards an unhappy Dan on the right side.

The Limited Run mechanic was removed by the time of the MediEvil Rolling Demo, although the meter could still be seen when the game was paused. An option to toggle the Limited Run on and off also remained in the game's debug menu, despite no longer doing anything.[3] These few remnants of the mechanic were removed soon after, as they no longer appear in the MediEvil ECTS Pre-Alpha.[4]
