The Gorgons, in Greek mythology, were three monstrous sisters: Medusa, Euryale, and Stheno. They were often depicted as having snakes for hair.
History
It is unknown whether the Gorgons ever actually existed. However, a Gorgon's head appeared on the floor of the main room of Gallowmere's hilltop mausoleum in the late 14th century.[1][2] A Gorgon also appeared on the floor of a room in Wulfrum Hall, a vampire residence in London in the late 19th century.[3]
Characteristics
Appearance
The Gorgon depicted on the floor of the hilltop mausoleum had several strands of hair which were snakes. She had sharp teeth and the eyes of a snake. She wore a circlet on her head.

Version specific differences
In the 2025 re-release of the game, the Gorgon head was removed from Wulfrum Hall and replaced with a generic brick texture. This is because the design was created by sculptor Jay W. Hungate, who owns the copyright.[5]
