"Here take this magical net, you bone-faced buffoon. Those fairy freaks are faster than they look."
― The Forest Witch, giving the net to Sir Dan.

The Butterfly Net was a tool given to Sir Dan by the Forest Witch in the Enchanted Forest so that he could catch fairies and take their fungi from them.

    History

On his quest to defeat Zarok and obtain all pieces of the Anubis Stone, Sir Dan found himself in the Enchanted Forest where he asked the Forest Witch for help. She agreed to open the way into the Shadow Demon Tomb for him, where a piece of the Anubis Stone was located, but only if he were to collect four pieces of fungi for her. Dan agreed, and so the witch gave him the Butterfly Net to assist him with catching the faeries in possession of the fungi.

    Gameplay

The net is equipped like a weapon and must be used in close proximity to a faerie in order to capture it. A cutscene will play when a faerie is first approached with the net and another cutscene will play after the faerie is successfully caught.

    RELICS AND ARTIFACTS book entry

"Many moons ago butterfly catching was the No.1 participant sport in Gallowmere, with many noted festivals and tournaments celebrating this frivolous pastime. Sadly nowadays the only sporting use for a butterfly net is to help snare the aggravating fairy delinquents of the Enchanted Forest."
