"Aah, my Dragonplate armour! Yes, it's certainly a bold piece. Look at the line, the detail! Tres chic… tres AMOO-ZONG… tres NOW. The breastplate came from my mother, you know. That woman was a SAINT."
― The Dragon King praises the armour.

The Dragon Armour, also known as Dragonplate Armour, was an artifact that imbued the wearer with immunity against fire, as well as the power to breathe it.

History

The Dragon Armour was in the possession of the Dragon King who lived on Dragon Island. It was fashioned out of the king's own mother. Death sent Sir Dan to fetch the armour in order to pass into the Haunted Ruins after Zarok and the pirate crew of the Ghost Ship agitated the nearby volcano.

Gameplay

Dragon Armour is obtained by fighting the Dragon King on Dragon Island. Once the Armour is worn, Sir Dan's appearance alters slightly to that of a dragon, while he also gains resistance against fire and the ability to breathe it. The Armour can be used in Dan's Crypt to obtain Chicken Drumsticks found by going into the lava flowing through one of the rooms, Inside The Asylum to reach the chalice, and Haunted Ruins to progress further into the game.

RELICS AND ARTIFACTS book entry

"This fabled combat suit is fashioned from the finest dragon scales, its stylish lines making even the most handsome of knights considerably more dashing and debonair. More importantly perhaps, it grants the wearer total protection from heat, and offers up the enviable ability to breathe a plume of deathly fire at disagreeable types."

Behind the scenes

Development

The Dragon Armour's functionality and appearance is mostly unchanged from the original game's version. However, the Armour never appears as a potion unlike in the original game.
