Mr. Mad is the husband of Mrs. Mad and father of Nellie Mad. He is the Gallows Town resident who was possessed as a madman by Zarok's magic.

    History

In 1386, Mr. Mad and the townspeople were under control by Zarok's sorcery and robbed of their souls and free will.

At the Sleeping Village, Mr. Mad is encountered in the pond area and inside the library. Two of them are found in the Troll's Head pub: One patrols the basement, and the other is barricaded by barrels at the main pub room where the Earth Rune was found.

After the death of Zarok, Mr. Mad's soul returned to him and is no longer under the sorcerer's control.

    Characteristics

    Personality

Other than having a demeanor of that of an insane killer due to possession, Mr. Mad's real personality is unknown. Although according to the bestiary book from the apocryphal timeline, Mr. Mad was described as shy, gentle and educated.[1]

    Combat

Mr. Mad is a heavyset man wielding a large axe and he runs very fast. He will run towards Dan in attempt to strike him with his axe. As with the rest of the possessed townspeople, Mr. Mad must not be harmed, as killing him would have drained the Chalice of Souls of its power.

Besides avoiding him, using the Daring Dash is the only way to temporarily stun Mr. Mad without harming him.

    Trivia

    • Mr. Mad's model from the original 1998 game seems to be an edited version of the Mad Farmer.
    • In the 2019 remake, Mr. Mad has a couple of voice lines. For example, he can be heard shouting "Come here!"
