Behind the scenes
Development
MediEvil (1998 original)
In early pre-release versions of MediEvil, such as the MediEvil Rolling Demo, Life Bottles did not yet exist. Instead, Dan's life was represented by Lives.
Version specific differences
MediEvil (1999 Japanese original)
In the Japanese version of the original game, the Life Bottle found on the dirt mound near the Star Rune gate in Dan's Crypt is actually a unique item called an Empty Bottle (空のボトル Sora no botoru). It is functionally the same as a Life Bottle but it is empty to begin with. This may have been done in order to teach players about refilling bottles using Health Fountains.
