Gameplay
Overview
After collecting seven pieces of Amber for the Witch of the Forest from the Ant Caves, the witch rewards Sir Dan with the drumsticks. They're capable of turning select enemies into Roast Chicken, which can be eaten to heal 20 HP. A single chicken drumstick can turn four enemies into roast chicken at most.
To acquire more drumsticks, Sir Dan has to redo the Forest Witch's quest. Alternatively, it is possible to let an Imp steal the drumsticks. This will allow Dan to purchase thirty of them back at a Merchant Gargoyle regardless of how many were left when they were stolen.
In the 2019 remake of MediEvil, the drumstick's secondary attack sees Sir Dan eat a drumstick directly. This will heal him for 20 HP, same as if he had eaten a Roast Chicken.
Effectiveness
Drumsticks can only be used on 18 enemies in the game (17 in the 2019 remake):
- Ants
- Boiler Guards
- Guardians of Mellowmede
- Hanged Men
- Head Bangers
- Headless Zombies
- Mad Farmers
- Mad Monks
- Mr Mad
- Mrs Mad
- Mummies*
- Imps
- Pumpkin Plants
- Scarecrows
- Shadow Demons
- Skewered Men
- Wolves
- Zombies
*Original game only.
Behind the scenes
Development
In early versions of MediEvil such as the MediEvil Rolling Demo, Chicken Drumsticks were a joke weapon that didn't do anything when thrown. It was thus advisable to find a different weapon as quickly as possible.[1]
