Doppelgängers
|
Doppelgängers are enemies that were set to appear in The Halls of Illusion level of the original MediEvil. They were copies of Sir Daniel Fortesque. One had an angelic appearance while the other looked more like a devil. According to the game's producer, Chris Sorrell, the doppelgängers would have come out of mirrors found throughout the level to attack Dan.[1][2] However, the level was cut and they were not reused in any other level.

While the doppelgängers are not properly implemented, their models and textures can be found in the files of the MediEvil ECTS Pre-Alpha.[3][3.1]
Characteristics
Appearance
The doppelgängers were similar in appearance to Sir Dan. However, one took on an angelic aspect and the other a devilish one.
Saintly Dan
The Saintly Dan's armour and skin were golden. Two small angelic wings sprouted from his pauldrons. He had balding white hair and a moustache above his buck teeth. A halo was floating above his head. He was floating as well, and his hands were locked in prayer.
Evil Dan
The Evil Dan's armour and skin were red. Two small demonic wings sprouted from his pauldrons. He had two horns on his head. Two bushy white eyebrows sat atop his bulging yellow eyes. Below them was an uneven white moustache, and below it were his buck teeth. Unlike his saintly counterpart, this Dan did not float; instead, he stumbled unevenly from one foot to the other.

Animations
Both doppelgängers have one animation each, which pertains to their movement.
