Shrubbites were magical tree stumps native to Gallowmere's Enchanted Forest. Although they looked harmless, they attacked people when they weren't being watched. They couldn't be killed with weapons, but could be used as platforms to reach higher ground.
Gameplay
An Adventurer's Guide to Monsters entry
These shuffling woody wanderers are impervious to damage (although understandably they do not appreciate being set alight!). Their curious nature means that they will track any explorer on his forest travels, only stopping to play dead if the wanderer turns to face them. One thing that shrubbites abhor is being used as a stepping stool, but hey, it's better than being used as a door mat![1][1.1]
Behind the scenes
Development
Shrubbites were originally set to appear in the undeveloped 2003 sequel to MediEvil 2, MediEvil 3: Fate's Arrow, as a parody of the Ents from The Lord of the Rings. They are similar to many video game enemies that cannot move while being watched, such as Boos from Super Mario Bros. 3.
