Next level | The Mud Slide[2] |
The Muddy Riverbank is a level that was cut from MediEvil.[2] It would have followed on from The River level and continued into The Mud Slide.[2]
In the September 1997 prototype, the level can be fully accessed. The level's design is similar to the Pools of the Ancient Dead and decorated with dragon bones. Due to its unfinished state, no enemies, items, or anything else were implemented at this point.
Some brief scenes, which are of the Muddy Riverbank, can be seen in an old promotional trailer; Dan can be seen crossing a long wooden bridge which leads to an island of dragon bones, where Armoured Knights, Mud Knights, and Ghouls can also be encountered.
In prototype builds of the game from June 1998, such as MediEvil 0.28, what appears to be the Muddy Riverbank can be seen in an early version of the Land Map. It is located in the same position as the Lake in the final game.
According to Jason Wilson's notes, the Muddy Riverbank could be accessed after collecting all shields for the Boat Man in the Pools of the Ancient Dead.[1]
Trivia
- The island's entrance, made of a pair of dragon skulls and spinal cords is somewhat similar to the Dragon Gate from the Gallows Gauntlet level.
