Shadow Demons

|
Shadow Demons are dark, demonic creatures from another dimension different to the mortal world.[1] They were under dark magical command by Zarok in 1286 and again by Lord Palethorn in 1886.
Characteristics
The Shadow Demons are the embodiment of darkness, appearing as hunched, pitch-black demon-like creatures with horns, glowing yellow eyes, and a single large claw for each hands. There are two variants:
- Crawl Demons - This variant walks in quadrupedal-like manner. Will dash towards Dan and violently attack with their claws. In the 2019 remake, they can randomly teleport to avoid Dan's attacks.
- Winged Demons - Another variant that has bat-like wings and thus capable of flying. Can spit fireballs at close range.
History
Background
In 1286, Zarok summoned the Shadow Demons to help him construct his castle and invade the land of Gallowmere.[2] After the Battle of Gallowmere, the creatures were imprisoned inside a tomb located in the Enchanted Earth by a great hero,[3] whose identity was disclosed. The Shadow Artefact was kept locked inside the vault at the Town Mayor's office from the Gallows Town.
MediEvil
In 1386, a hundred years later, Zarok sends his army of Boiler Guards to raid the Gallows Town and locate the Shadow Artefact so they can use it to free the Shadow Demons from their tomb, but Sir Daniel Fortesque managed to find the artefact first. Later on, at the Enchanted Earth, Dan uses the Shadow Artefact to open the entrance to the tomb and was forced to release the Shadow Demons so that he could progress on his journey to face Zarok. Once freed, the demons were first encountered around the forest, before they make their way to the ruins of Peregrin Castle.
MediEvil 2
In 1886, the Shadow Demons' winged counterparts were summoned by Palethorn with Zarok's spell book and takes over the Cathedral Spires, where they would disguise themselves as gargoyles perched on the rooftops.
