The vulture was an animal that came to Sir Dan's aid twice during his journey to defeat Zarok the Sorcerer in the 14th century.

    History

    1386

Though initially interested in Dan only as a source of food, the vulture developed a special bond with him.[1][1.1] It saved Dan from the Jabberwocky and later saved him from falling to his second death after the destruction of Zarok's Lair.

    Characteristics

    Appearance

The vulture was a huge bird of prey. Its body was largely covered by brown feathers safe for its neck area where the feathers were white. Its head was unfeathered and therefore bald.

    Behind the scenes

    Development

    MediEvil (1998 original)

According to Jason Riley, who was responsible for creating all the full motion videos (FMVs) in the game, the vulture used in MediEvil was an improved version of the vulture who appeared in the intro FMV for the PlayStation version of Silverload, a previous game by the studio.[2]

A portrait of the vulture appears in Creatures, an artificial life program created by Millennium Interactive. This is because the backgrounds for Creatures were composited by Jason Riley.[3][2]

    Symbolism

For Ancient Egyptians, vultures symbolised the eternal cycle of death and rebirth due to their ability to transform the “death” they feed on – i.e. carrion and waste – into life.[4]

That's cool, thanks for sharing! Is it the MediEvil vulture or a Silverload vulture by the way?

Jason Riley: both of them. I improved it a little for MediEvil."
