Health Fountains, also known as Fountains of Rejuvenation, were springs of life energy found throughout the land whenever a necromancer resurrected the dead.

    Gameplay

    Overview

Health Fountains can heal up to two Life Bottles worth of energy (600 HP) in MediEvil and MediEvil 2. In MediEvil: Resurrection, Health Fountains only restore 99 HP, which is 1 HP shy of a single Health Bottle.

In MediEvil and MediEvil: Resurrection, if Sir Dan re-enters an area after it was already cleared, the Health Fountain will have replenished and he'll be able to use it again. Dan doesn't take any damage while standing in a fountain.

In MediEvil 2, if Dan re-enters a previously cleared area, the Health Fountain will not replenish and will remain drained. Dan will also take damage while standing in a fountain.

According to Andrew Barnabas, the health fountain’s sound effect was "the first example of pseudo middleware written by Chris Sorrell himself using real-time processing on the ‘spirit’ sound."[1]
