"The Blunderbuss, It's[sic] a bit of a modern weapon. It hasn't got a lot of range and because it needs two hands, you can't use a shield at the same time. Up-close though, bamm! It'll do the business."
― The Professor, after creating the Blunderbuss.

The Blunderbuss was a ranged weapon the Professor created for Sir Dan after Dan brought him eight Chalices.

    History

The Professor created the Blunderbuss using the energy of a Chalice after Sir Dan returned from Whitechapel. However, it was actually Winston Chapelmount who gave the weapon to Dan, because Dan had run away from the Professor's Lab into the Sewers due to being upset at Kiya's death.

    Gameplay

This is the classic rifle with a single trumpet-shaped barrel. It has a short, but wide range. It's at its most powerful from up close, and is one of only two weapons in the game that is two-handed, the other being the Gatling Gun. A shield cannot be used while wielding it.

Because the Blunderbuss is usually awarded after Dan runs away from the lab, most players will not hear the Professor's description of it unless they miss a few Chalices and collect it later.

    Notes

    1. 1.0 1.1 It is possible for Dan to get any weapon from either the Professor or Winston, and in either The Professor's Lab, The Sewers, or The Time Machine level, depending on whether any chalices are missed during the game. The information in this article assumes all preceding chalices were collected.
