― an Information Gargoyle after Sir Dan released the Shadow Demons.

Shadow Demons were dark, evil creatures summoned into the mortal world from another dimension.[1][2][2.1] They were servants of Zarok, their summoner, until they were locked away in a tomb in 1286.

A hundred years later, they were inadvertently released from their imprisonment by Sir Daniel Fortesque, only to be defeated by him shortly after. Five hundred years after that, in 1886, they resurfaced, attracted by a great evil gathering within a Cathedral in London.

    History

    Birth

Some sources claimed that countless Shadow Demons were born when the bodies of Red Flying Demons, such as the Demonettes, split.[3][3.1]

    Imprisonment

Near the end of the 13th century, Zarok recruited the Shadow Demons to help him build his castle and invade the land of Gallowmere.[2.2] After their master's defeat at the Battle of Gallowmere in 1286, the demons were imprisoned inside a tomb in the Enchanted Earth by a great hero[4][4.1] whose identity remains unknown. The Shadow Artefact, a mystical key to the tomb, eventually found its way into the Town Mayor’s possession. He kept it locked inside a safe in his house in Gallows Town.

    Release from the tomb

In 1386, a hundred years from the demons' imprisonment, Zarok sent a deployment of his Boiler Guards to raid Gallows Town in search of the Shadow Artefact. However, Sir Daniel Fortesque managed to find the artefact first. Later on, in the Enchanted Earth, Sir Dan used the Shadow Artefact to open the entrance to the tomb and was forced to release the Shadow Demons in order to make progress on his journey to defeat Zarok. Once freed, the demons made their way to the ruins of Peregrin Castle.

    The Autumn of Death

In 1886, during the events that came to be known as the Autumn of Death, winged Shadow Demons began gathering around a Cathedral in London, where they disguised themselves as gargoyles perched on its spires. Many were dispatched by Sir Dan.
