A Chaos Rune was one of the Rune Stones used to lock and unlock gates in Gallowmere. Chaos Runes were still in use by the 14th century.

Chaos Runes are the most common type of Rune Stone found in Gallowmere. They appear in the following eleven levels:

• The Graveyard
• The Hilltop Mausoleum
• Scarecrow Fields
• Pumpkin Gorge
• The Sleeping Village
• The Asylum Grounds
• Pools Of The Ancient Dead
• The Lake
• The Haunted Ruins
• The Ghost Ship
• The Time Device

MediEvil: Resurrection

Chaos Runes are the most common type of Rune Stone in Gallowmere along with Moon Runes. They appear in the following eight levels:

• Hilltop Mausoleum
• Return to the Graveyard
• Inside The Asylum
• Sleeping Village
• Scarecrow Fields
• Pools Of The Ancient Dead
• Scurvy Docks
• Ghost Ship

Concept art by Jason Wilson, the game's art lead, reveals that a different symbol was set to appear on the Chaos Runes at first. It also says that "chaos becomes sun," though it is unclear what exactly this means. Wilson does not remember what this note might have meant. It is possible that Chaos Runes were going to be Sun Runes instead, but the idea was scrapped.
